CONTEMPORARY  CHRISTIAN MUSIC LAMENT

Tom Bonvie

The Devil has a new hit record on the charts....it's called NEUTRAL...but it isn't going anywhere.  Try as he may, he can't get it in gear.  And no wonder, its drive shaft is broken.  All it does is "idol".  The reason being...because if you are truly a Christian, sooner or later, you will come to your senses and realize your immobility. You are  caught in a virtual cataclysmic vortex that is spiraling you out of communion with God.

Many of the once traditional Bible-believing churches, especially of a Baptist nature,
have  fallen away into new age trauma and ecumenical confusion.  It might even be labeled as "diarrhea of the heart", (soul bleeders) who have re-fashioned what was once the Rock of Ages to the new age of Rock.

I recently witnessed on the tube a confused mass of young people at a Christian rock concert being  indoctrinated by a group of rockers whose slogan was "Don't Skillet, Kill It".  They were, at least from this person's perspective, filled with an unknown spirit.  They possessed more drums than brains....also the usual montage of  tattoos, along with the acidic vocal frenzy of a re-incarnated Jimi Hendrix, all you'd expect from a sloppy revival of Woodstock. I might say I was concerned at the outset, however, that was until the emergence of  the producer, the lack-luster FRANKLIN GRAHAM (Billy's little boy), whom I might add was dressed for the occasion which took place at ROCK THE RIVER in Calgary, Alberta.
Was it multi-denominational?  You bet your botox!

Somebody once said somewhere..."What you win them with is what you win them to."  Sounds reasonable (but not godly).

Is contemporary Christian music really NEUTRAL?  Sure,  he said...just like it was in the era of silent films. (remember the romping piano in the background)

Music, like any other mind altering sensation, sets the mood. And you don't even have to go to the Bible to understand that.  If I want to initialize my charm before my wife I will build the mood with  a classical standard.  Likewise will I use other mind-altering melodies to hype or deflate the situation at hand.

I could go on and on, but for now I will leave you with some scripture references to hopefully awaken your mind to the fact that God is Holy and will not be mocked.
In Psalms 13:6, 27:6, 66:2, 98:1, 104:12,  Proverbs 29:6, Isaiah 23:16, 24:14,  Revelation 15:3....etc, etc... The beat goes on...or does it?
I would continue, but I'm not in the MOOD right now. Perhaps some music might help.
